Yeovil
Strategic Objectives
The Strategic Objectives are:
- To define and agree a protocol between partners, including relevant
sections of the property and development industry for the process of
initiating, sharing and responding to inward investment enquiries;
- To define and agree a protocol between regulatory bodies and agencies
for responding to requests for assistance and enforcement matters involving
business;
- To develop a comprehensive network and one stop shop to provide advice to
existing, start up or incoming businesses to ensure that they have access to
support in such areas as; business to business mentoring, tailoring business
advice, flexible workspace, affiliation to a knowledge base and
finance;
- To further specify and explain the strengths and attractions for
businesses of the Yeovil area, including the benefits of the various new
initiatives and activities being proposed in the strategy;
- To develop exemplar projects which focus on specific opportunities for
growth;
- To ensure that opportunities are not missed which help ensure the economic
(land, premises, skills, resources) needs of Yeovil are fully recognised in
local, county and regional plans and strategies;
- To improve the local skills base, the retention of young adults and the
recruitment of new workers to the area;
- To build up a better dialogue with the business community and to involve
business to a much greater extent in driving the town's economy; and
- To develop a core of business leaders who want and accept a role in
helping to move the local economy forward. The group should not be seen simply
as a ready made consultation forum but much more as a driving force for
change.
